In Other News

In the spirit of vacation, I embarked on some new hobbies that I hope to carry into the new year that are not Pink Papaya related. The first is one that I am still nervous I won't finish, and that is knitting. I began a scarf for my sister that was meant as a Christmas gift and now is intended to be a "gift when I finish." I am NOT very far. I did invest in some good quality yarn from Sophie's Fine Yarn Shoppe. Being in the store made me want to take on bigger and better projects, but first I need to successfully finish the one I've started. The second project is photography. I got a new camera for Christmas and LOVE it. I've been having fun playing with it and want to do some actual photography in the new year. I might take a class or try to volunteer my services in exchange for gathering experience.

Hello, Stranger

The one thing about blogging, especially as a beginner blogger, is that you never know if anyone is actually reading or not. Regardless, I'm sorry for neglecting you all, dear readers. I've been away for the Christmas.
I did manage to spread the Pink Papaya love from afar by gifting some of my favorite products to friends and family. Hopefully they get some pampering enjoyment. Whenever I give gifts, I try to give the ones that smell the best. There's something about some of our scents that just make me happy. One of my favorite gifts to give this holiday season was our Winter's Nap. It's a mini version of the hand scrub and shea butter and comes with gloves to hold in the moisture of the cream over night. I like to give gifts that you wouldn't purchase yourself but love to use. And on top of that, the smell of the scrub and shea butter is fantastic.

A Tint of Color

The product I am obsessed with right now is the Mineral Sheer Tint in Cameo Glow. It acts as a foundation, sunscreen, and antioxidant lotion. I am not a huge foundation fan, and this is very light and sheer while still giving coverage and  nice glow. I also love that it has sunscreen because I am not good at remembering facial sunscreen. I've found that since I've started using it, my complexion looks clearer. It contains vitamins that moisturize and protect your skin and I've definitely noticed a difference from it.

It's My Party and I'll Cry If I Want To

I'm very excited about some vendor events I have lined up. I did a craft show a few weeks ago, and one that I am super excited about is a wedding show I am doing in January. I'd like to do more wedding shows in the future. I think it's the right demographic for my products.

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

December 13 is the last day to order with a guaranteed arrival before Christmas!

SHOP NOW!

Don't forget, free gift with every $50 purchase. For Christmas, the gift is your choice of a gingerbread frost scrub or body butter. If you get two or more gifts, it's your choice of the scrub and butter or multiple of the same. The Gingerbread Frost is one of my favorite holiday scents. And the holiday scents are limited to Holiday 2011. My other favorite holiday scent is Holiday Hottie. I always struggle with self control when I place customer orders. I placed one this week and almost order three times as many products as I actually needed because I wanted extra holiday scents.

We have a lot of awesome options for gifts for teachers or coworkers, and they come in at cheaper prices. Some suggestions: we have a lotion candle for $10.50 in both Gingerbread Frost and Hot Buttered Rum. I'd never heard of a lotion candle before Pink Papaya, but how it works is you light it, let it burn until a pool of oil forms, blow out the candle, and then apply the soft was to your hands. It is AMAZING for dry, winter hands.

Pink Papaya Parties

Left a bagful of Pink Papaya samples for a friend who's having a Bunko party tonight. I'm always excited to share the Pink Papaya love!

Inner Balance, Outer Beauty

I had a great opportunity to talk to a potential client last week. She has severe skin allergies and had bad reactions to some other direct sales cosmetics. It gave me a perfect chance to talk about Pink Papaya as a possible option for her. But when she sent me a LONG list of skin care ingredients she's allergic to, I thought there was no way I could find anything that would fit her needs. I spent a lot of time this weekend going through our ingredient lists and actually found that most of our products would work for her. As much as I know our products are natural and contain products that are "good for you," it was exciting to see it for a real life situation.

An Apple a Day

One of my goals is to do at least one thing a day for my business. It could be something as small as bringing someone a catalog but it has to be something. Today my goal is to send out Christmas cards to all my customers.

Eye Shadow Magnet

I've never been a product junkie. I have always used a few, high quality products. But now that I sell Pink Papaya, I have tried and started using a lot of products I never would have before. One product that I can't say enough good things about it eye shadow magnet.

I tried it based on another consultant's suggestion, and it is a completely underrated beauty product. For those of you not familiar, it goes on before eyeshadow, like a primer, and basically causes the eye shadow to grab onto it and stay put all day. In one word, it's FANTASTIC. I always have had problems with my eyeshadow ending up in places that it shouldn't, and as a result, would skip it. But the magnet stops that. I've tried primers before, but the magnet works much better.

The Art of Samples

I had this idea that as soon as I gave people samples of my products, they would immediately place an order. Maybe it's because I love the products so much and have always used higher end skincare and cosmetics. Pink Papaya is pricier than the drugstore brands but comparable to department store brands like Mac. But I can't tell you how many times I give samples to people and they don't even try out the products. I put them in cute organza bags and cute sample jars, all matching. I discovered last week that handing people my catalog along with a sample made a big difference. For some reason, the physical copy of the catalog has been more meaningful than sending people a link to my website. It's funny to me that in the age of technology we live in, a physical catalog makes so much of a difference. So my goal now is to make more of an effort to put the catalog in people's hands.
